Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Info@Republic-Construction.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

To us and our installers this is a matter of personal opinion. We maintain the same Building Standards when installing both Premium Quality Cedar and Pine Pickets. As a piece of treated pine begins to dry and age, it can start to bend for reasons outside of our control.

There are 2 methods and schools of thought on this topic. Method 1 is called "Dry Packing", which refers to putting the concrete in the hole without mixing and adding water on top. Method 2 is called "Wet Setting", where the concrete is mixed in a wheel barrow with water, then put in the hole around the post. At Republic Construction our Standard is to always "Wet Set" Residential and Commercial Projects. This provides a stronger tighter bond to the wood or metal post, and a longer lasting finished product that we are proud to put our names on.

We recommend waiting 4 to 6 weeks before applying any kind of sealant to your finished wooden fence. This allows the newly built fence to "breathe" and soak up the sealant as it is applied. Remember, a piece of Treated Pine already has chemicals in it to help extend its life, some of those chemical will need to dry out before the piece of wood will absorb any Sealant. Feel free to reach out to us for different Stain & Sealant options.
